Kazuhide Takahama Biography

Japanese by origin but Bolognese by adoption, he was one of Dino Gavina's first collaborators. The young Japanese architect arrived in Italy in 1957. The first project was the “Naeko” sofa from 1968, when Gavina founded the new company, Simon International. Together with Carlo Scarpa, the main creator of the works, Takahama interpreted in the best way a of Gavina's many ideas: «ennoble (with lacquer) a banal panel, which is the only semi-finished product available for the mass production of furniture...».
