Alberto Alpago Novello Biography
Alberto Alpago Novello was born in Milan in 1967 and resided in this city until 1989. After having attended the Degree Course in Architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan for two years, he moved to the University Institute of Architecture of Venice (IUAV) , where in July 1993 he graduated with full marks and honours. His degree thesis dealt with the study of the hydroelectric power plants along the Piave Cordevole and Cellina rivers, analyzing their historical and architectural aspects and the relationship with the territory and the surrounding environment. In November 1993 he qualified to practice as an architect in Venice and in 1994 he registered with the Order of Architects of Belluno, simultaneously opening a design studio in the same city. In 1997 he became a partner of the "Studio Barcelloni Alpago Rossato". In 2005 he founded the "Alpago-Novello Architecture Studio" and, at the same time, he also became a founding member of "Coprogetti" (Engineering-Architecture). His professional experience as a designer and construction manager has developed in the field of public, private, civil and religious construction, with particular attention to the problem of restoration. In this context he has been involved on several occasions in restoration interventions of historic buildings, subject to protection by the Superintendency, as well as existing buildings for civil, residential, office and public entertainment use, also with the definition and design of elements of furniture and design. He has paid particular attention to sustainable architecture and, specifically, to issues related to disability and solutions to encourage and facilitate independence in daily living. He has participated in numerous specialization courses, including as a teacher, particularly in the field of conservation of historic heritage, and has taken part in national and international design competitions. He has also conducted research and photographic campaigns in the field of historical research, publishing several volumes and specific essays.
