Shin Azumi is a designer born in Kobe, Japan, in 1965. After completing his studies at the Royal College of Art in London in 1994, he started his own independent business as a designer under the brand 'AZUMI'. Subsequently, in 2005, he founded his own design studio in London called 'a studio'. In 2016 he moved back to Japan, to Tokyo, where he currently holds the position of professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Design of Hosei University. 'a studio' clients include important international brands such as Lapalma, Magis, Desalto, Fredericia, Tefal and Authentics.
His works have received numerous awards in both Europe and Japan, including the Blueprint 100% Design Award and the FX International Design Award in the "Product of the Year" category. Shin Azumi has also served on the juries of various design awards, including the IF Design Award in Germany. His works have been exhibited in major international museums such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in the United Kingdom and the Stedelijk Museum in the Netherlands.
