Guido Balsamo Stella (Turin, 1882 - Asolo, 1941). In 1986 he moved to Venice where he worked in his studio in Cà Pesaro and attended the Free School of the Nude at the Venetian Academy. Shortly afterwards he moved to Munich, thanks to contacts with the Secession and here he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts. He exhibited at the Secession exhibitions and in 1914 he obtained a prize at the Venice Biennale. At the outbreak of the First World War he found himself in Sweden with his wife and dedicated himself to glass engraving and etching, without neglecting painting and decorative activities. In 1922 he returned to Italy, to Florence, where he taught at the Royal Institute of Art of S. Croce and in Colle Val d'Elsa, he opened a glass workshop. He taught in various art institutes and in 1936 he was director of the State Art Institute of Venice.
