Claudio Francesco Beaumont (1694 - 1766) was an Italian painter of the 18th century.
Protected by the princes of Savoy Vittorio Amedeo II and Carlo Emanuele III, he trained first in Turin and subsequently in Rome at the studio of Francesco Trevisani, where he had the opportunity to learn about classicist painting and the poetics of Arcadia.
Returning to the Savoy court, he was entrusted with numerous decorations for the most important residences, such as the Royal Palace, where he painted the ceiling with the Chariot of Dawn, and in 1738 he decorated the large gallery, today known as the "Beaumont Gallery", home of the armory.
Having achieved considerable fame, his talent led him to be named "his majesty's first painter" and commissioned him to produce many altarpieces for the main churches in Turin, including those for the Basilica of Superga and for the Church of Carmine. As the years passed, his painting was influenced by the Neapolitan and Venetian schools.
