Elvio Becheroni Biography

Elvio Becheroni (Florence, 1934 - Brazil, 2000). Painter, sculptor, graphic designer, jewelery maker and ceramic artist, works mainly in the Lombardy capital, where he moved at a young age. His artistic activity began in the 1960s and in that period he participated in numerous collective and personal exhibitions, translating the new prevailing trends of Spatialism and Informalism into reconstructions, apparitions, disappearances and characters with an absolutely personal taste. In 1978 he left Italy to live and work in Brazil where he was inspired by nature and the precious wood of the Amazon. After an expedition in the forest he recovers some logs saved from the flames of a fire and with them he creates large environmentalist sculptures in which he wants to highlight the suffering of nature at the hands of man. For many years he dedicated himself to artistic activity with the aim of raising general awareness about the survival of the Amazon forest.
