Pieretto Bianco Biography

Pietro Bianco Bortoluzzi (also known as Pieretto Bianco) was born in Trieste in 1875 and died in Bologna in 1937, he was a painter and set designer.
He studied art as a self-taught artist, inspired by the famous works of Tintoretto and Tiepolo, and then attended the Academy of Venice and Burano.
The mountain of Tignes and the city of Venice were among his favorite subjects along with landscapes and portraiture. In all his works you could see his passion for art and life, highlighted above all by the harmony of the colors used. Some of his landscape works recalled the techniques of Impressionism.
In 1915, Pieretto had the opportunity to decorate the Italian pavilion at the San Francisco exposition. The following year, he began his career as a set designer at the Metropolitan Opera House.
In the 1920s, after a period in Cuba, he returned to Italy to dedicate himself to painting and scenography, as well as teaching at the Institute of Fine Arts in Parma.
Unfortunately, during the preparation of an exhibition in Genoa in 1937 Pieretto had an accident which hit him in the neck. He died the same year in Bologna due to pneumonia, but his art continues to live on through his works.
