Ferruccio Bortoluzzi Biography

Bortoluzzi, a self-taught artist, was born in Venice in 1920 and died in the same city in 2007.

Founder of the Centro di Unità della Cultura l'Arco together with other Venetian artists and writers, whose aim is to spread culture through concerts, exhibitions and meetings with international writers and poets. He presents himself as a painter of images in works from the 1940s. The color of the canvases is toneless, but the sense of emptiness and abandonment is always present.

In 1951 he moved to Paris, where he met Gino Severini. This intense period of comparison leads him to a new artistic research. At the beginning of the 1960s he reached full artistic maturity and experimented with a new personal expressive language, transforming paintings into "objects" in a perfect symbiosis between painting and sculpture.

Using recycled materials such as worn wood, rusty iron, nails, ropes, rings, he creates compositions that express great human strength.
The major Italian critics have recognized and appreciated his art. One of his works was donated by his heirs to the Museo del '900 in Milan.
