Marieda Di Stefano was born in Milan in 1901. Her father Francesco, a building contractor, loved to surround himself with works of art and probably passed this passion on to his eldest daughter. Marieda, after her primary studies, dedicated herself to ceramics; she took lessons from the sculptor Luigi Amigoni who taught her the technique and allowed her to cultivate her love for color, expressing her extroverted and joyful nature. Marieda's production, consisting mainly of vases, plates and female figures, became a model for the students of the school that she herself established in 1962, on the first floor of her home in via Jan 15 in Milan, and which continued, under the direction of his trusted friend Migno Amigoni, daughter of the maestro, until 2011.
