Andrea Branzi Biography

Andrea Branzi, architect and designer, graduated in Florence in 1967 and currently resides and works in Milan. From 1964 to 1974 he was a member of Archizoom Associati, a group of architects and designers considered protagonists of the Florentine Radical movement and recognized as one of the most authoritative voices of the Radical Architecture movement. Subsequently, Branzi was a leading member of the Alchimia studio, founded in 1976, and from 1981 he participated in the experience of the Memphis group.


In 1982, Branzi opened his own studio, focusing on architecture, urban planning, interior design and industrial design. In 1983 he was among the founders of the Domus Academy in Milan, the first international specialization school in industrial design, design management and fashion.


Branzi held the role of Full Professor and President of the Course of Studies in Interior Design at the Faculty of Design of the Polytechnic of Milan. Over the course of his career, he wrote several books and essays, among which "Learning from Milan. The hot house" and "Introduction to Italian design" stand out.


Furthermore, Branzi has collaborated with numerous Italian architecture magazines, including Interni, Domus, Casabella and MODO. In 1994 he received the prestigious ADI Compasso d'Oro Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contribution in the field of architecture and design.
