Cantieri Carugati Biography
The long history and extensive experience of the "Carugati" company began way back in 1945, with the activity of Carlo, the grandfather, at the historic headquarters in Via Matteotti 37 in Cantù, where he dealt with the timber trade, plywood, hardboard and the first Formica panels, directing its service to local carpenters. Over the years, the company moved its business from Via Matteotti to Via Cavour 7, expanding sales with the introduction of veneers and chipboard panels.
On 14 September 1972, Carlo's eldest son, Antonietto, decided to move the warehouse to Via Paganella 13, also in Cantù, with the new name "L'ANGOLO DEL TRANCIATO", inspired by a corner room where the valuable veneers. The new shed, much more spacious, made it possible to process other products, such as panels of all types, leftover veneers, veneers of all essences, dried wood, also supported by a first horizontal panel saw, in order to provide a better quality.
In 1988, the company further developed with the addition of a new warehouse, the arrival of which coincides with the entry into the scene of Antonietto's children, Silvia, Carlo and Elena. Thanks to the greater availability of space, it was possible to divide the various products into different departments. In 1997, the new offices were inaugurated, a department dedicated to the cutting and squaring of panels, while in 2004 the showroom was opened in Via Risorgimento, specializing in the sale of doors and parquet.
