The sculptor Pino Castagna was born in Castelgomberto, in the province of Vicenza, on 24 February 1932. After moving to Verona, he trained at the local Academy of Fine Arts and completed his studies in Venice. From 1959 to 1964 he collaborated with Michael Noble and made his skills in ceramic manufacturing available for the training of people with particular mental disorders. In the same period the sculptor took part in numerous group exhibitions and in 1967 he exhibited at the Milan Triennale. Having moved to the studio in Costermano sul Garda, he experimented with the use of materials such as cement, bronze and porcelain. In the Seventies he collaborated with the Richard-Ginori manufacturing company and, later, exhibited in Tokyo and New York, establishing himself on the international market. He died in Costermano on 22 February 2017.
