Tommaso Cimini Biography
Tommaso Cimini, born in 1947, founded Lumina Italia in 1975 after designing the simplest possible table lamp, called Daphine, using a simple transformer for the Milan Fair in 1974. Starting from an electromechanical transformer, the architect created handcrafted this lamp, which is now exhibited in the most important modern art museums in the world. Cimini's goal was to create and build lamps that embodied the essence of the essential. Over the years, Cimini began collaborating with high-profile designers such as Walter Monici, Riccardo Blumer, Yaacov Kaufman and Emanuele Ricci. Thanks to their creativity and undoubted manual skills, the Lumina catalog has been enriched year after year. Cimini decided to support Ermanno Prosperi in 1985, who held the role of manager of the company's logistics and financial area for a long time thanks to his experience and managerial spirit. In 1987 the new Lumina headquarters was opened in the Arluno factory. In 1997, Tommaso Cimini died in a plane crash, leaving the company in the expert hands of Ermanno Prosperi, who took care of the financial and managerial aspects of the company. The turning point occurred in 2008 with the entry of Ettore Cimini, Tommaso's son, at the helm of the company. His enthusiasm and passion for the world of light pushed him to focus on the product, bringing new ideas, technical passion and a strong trust in an entirely Italian product. The craftsmanship applied to industrial processes has given elasticity and dynamism to the company. These are just some of the ingredients that gave rise to the Lumina of the third millennium.
