Antonio Corpora (Tunis, 1909 - Rome, 2004). He attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts, a student of Gustave Moreau. In 1929 he settled in Florence and attended Felice Carena's lessons at the Academy of Fine Arts. He went to Paris and comes into contact with the post-impressionist, cubist and Fauvist schools. In 1939 he held a solo exhibition in Milan and came into contact with the abstractionists Fontana, Reggiani and Soldato. He collaborates with various magazines dealing with painting and literature. He painted figurative works, landscapes, still lifes and, starting from 1934, abstract compositions in post-impressionist style. In 1945 he settled in Rome, collaborated in Guttuso's studio and participated in the cultural and artistic climate of the city, associating with painters, poets and directors. In 1948 he was present at the Venice Biennale and in the following years he exhibited in various cities, winning the Young Painting Award at the Venice Biennale, in which he also participated in 1956, 1960 and 1966. His works were exhibited in important museums national and international. In the Seventies he explored new techniques, such as the informal ones of mural painting and dripping.
