Antonio Da Ros Biography

Antonio Da Ros was born in Venice in 1936, he graduated in 1957 from the Carmini Higher Institute of Decorative Arts in Venice, obtaining the professional qualification in decorative arts and architecture. In 1958 he began working at the Gino Cenedese glass factory. Da Ros' presence within the Cenedese glass factory was permanent, working in close collaboration with the master glassmakers of the town. Under his artistic direction the factory develops various decorative and contemporary design lines, increasingly raising the standards. Initially, stylized shapes were used with the addition of colored glass; subsequently with the use of the "excavation" glass technique, a particular glass finish that seems to have been brought to light by archaeological excavations. A new decorative line was thus introduced on several new creations, all of which are highly appealing due to the simplicity of the lines and the preciousness and modernity of the color and material used.
His latest works are created with the return of traditional Murano techniques of hand-blown glass, however reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity; such as the “VENICE DREAMS” collection, and the “VENEZIA I” AND “VENEZIA II” collection.
