David de la Mar, born in Amsterdam on 14 March 1832 and died on 6 August 1898 in Hilversum, was a Dutch painter of Jewish origin. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam and later the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris to continue his studies. Read the full biography

David de la Mar, born in Amsterdam on 14 March 1832 and died on 6 August 1898 in Hilversum, was a Dutch painter of Jewish origin. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam and later the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris to continue his studies. He mainly made paintings of scenes from everyday life in the Dutch provinces and his works were influenced by the First Hague School, representing a combination of French Impressionism and Dutch Realism. In 1867, David became a member of “Arti et Amicitiae”.
David de la Mar died suddenly on 6 August 1898 at his brother Alexander's home in Hilversum.
