Domenico De Rossi, born in Rome on 10 January 1659, was a publisher, sculptor and engraver of Italian origins. Domenico De Rossi, born in Rome on 10 January 1659, was a publisher, sculptor and engraver of Italian origins. Celebrated for publishing many books with architectural engravings, he acquired his training as an architect, working alongside his half-brother Matthia, who was 22 years his senior and who had acquired great notoriety as Bernini's assistant and collaborator. In 1695, after his brother's death, De Rossi took over his brother's place as supervisor at the Fabbrica di San Pietro, working in collaboration with Carlo Fontana. De Rossi also created a book of drawings and models for altars and chapels entitled "Drawings of Variable Altars and Chapels" in 1685, whose collections of engravings represent one of the first testimonies of the baroque decorations of Rome.
In 1730 he suffered a serious accident which led to his death.
