Giovanni De Simone (1930 – 1991) was an Italian ceramist. Trained in Faenza, where he attended the Institute of Art for Ceramics, he opened the «Maioliche d'Arte De Simone» laboratory in Palermo in the 1950s, where he dedicated himself to the production of everyday ceramics and decorative tiles for covering and décor. Traditional and hand-painted furnishings. Over the years he became one of the major representatives of Sicilian ceramics. His evolution as an artist later led him to create works inspired by primitivism but characterized by a burlesque and festive streak with brightly colored enamel decorations, often thick, such as everyday furnishing objects and majolica sculptures in traditional and modern style. In 2019, a retrospective exhibition was dedicated to him at the Botanical Gardens of Palermo.
