Nerone Di Luzzara Biography
Sergio Terzi, known as Nerone, was born in 1939 in Villarotta di Luzzara. He was a multifaceted artist, skilled in multiple disciplines such as painting, sculpture, writing, poetry and music. Art was for him a tool to express the deepest emotions, managing to bring out his creativity in a surreal way. Not having been taught by any master, he began painting at the age of 30, in 1969, immediately showing an explosive personality and great expressive potential. He worked for several years as a driver for Antonio Ligabue, one of the most important Naïve artists of the twentieth century, who was a mentor for him. Over time, his painting underwent an evolution: initially, each canvas had life as its central theme, with a predilection for pure, intense and decisive oil colours. Since the late 1990s, however, Nero has taken a more abstract direction in his works. In 2002, he decided to change course and created very informal and personal works of art, without a representational dimension, and composed exclusively of color and materials. Thanks to his ability to master new materials and new techniques, the results were astonishing.
