Emile Fabry is a symbolist artist born in Verviers in 1865.

Emile Fabry is a symbolist artist born in Verviers in 1865.
After finishing his military service he enrolled at the Brussels Academy. He participated in dissident movements such as the "Pour l'Art" circle in Brussels and the Parisian Rosicrucian Salon, where he presented five works starting from 1893. In these paintings, Fabry highlights the human figure, which he paints in a synthetic and volumetric way using unreal colors.
In 1896, Emile Fabry joined the Salon d'Art idealiste founded by Delville and from 1898 onwards he was entrusted with numerous commissions for the decoration of private residences designed by Victor Horta. From 1900 to 1939, he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. From that moment Fabry's career had an international dimension and he received numerous awards. The artist died in 1966, when he was over one hundred years old, after the municipality of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre had dedicated an important retrospective to him.
