Notable Italian painter of the 19th century, known for his tragic interpretation of the restlessness of the post-romantic generation, he studied in Pavia, where the Trecourt brothers, his teachers, were considered innovative compared to the Milanese artistic environment dominated by Hayez.
Despite his efforts to find an artistic and personal identity, Faruffini always lived in a state of experimentation, which led him to often move between different cities, such as Paris, Milan, Rome and Perugia, and to come into contact with various contemporary artistic personalities . Federico Faruffini Biography

Federico Faruffini was born in Sesto San Giovanni in 1833.
Notable Italian painter of the 19th century, known for his tragic interpretation of the restlessness of the post-romantic generation, he studied in Pavia, where the Trecourt brothers, his teachers, were considered innovative compared to the Milanese artistic environment dominated by Hayez.
Despite his efforts to find an artistic and personal identity, Faruffini always lived in a state of experimentation, which led him to often move between different cities, such as Paris, Milan, Rome and Perugia, and to come into contact with various contemporary artistic personalities . However, his desire for success and critical and popular approval often led him to be unstable and dissatisfied. This state of crisis led him to commit suicide, at the age of just 36, after having sold all his works to invest in his photographic equipment.
