Giovanni Frangi Biography

Giovanni Frangi (Milan 1959) He began to approach painting very early and conducted his studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, from 1978 to 1982. The following year, 1983, he made his debut thanks to participation in a dedicated collective exhibition to the young painters and sculptors at the Rotonda in via Besana in Milan, where he will return with some pastels for the "Artists and writers" exhibition. This first experience was followed, in the same year, by his first solo exhibition at the La Bussola Gallery in Turin. In 1986 it was again the turn of a solo exhibition, held at the Bergamini Gallery in Milan, whose catalog contained a text by the art historian Achille Bonito Oliva. The following year he came into contact with the Poggiali e Forconi Gallery in Florence, where he held several monographic exhibitions, all accompanied by catalogs signed by some of the most famous art historians and critics. In 1989, for the first time, he decided to cross national borders, exhibiting at the Galerie du Banneret in Bern, where he returned again in 1990 and 1992. Exhibitions followed in: Barcelona (1989), New Orleans (1993), Carmel (1994), Lausanne (1995), Hong Kong (1997), Marseille (1998), San Francisco (2000), Los Angeles (2001), Beijing (2005), Hanoi (2007) and Frankfurt (2008). Giovanni Frangi's works are now the protagonists of numerous Italian and foreign exhibitions, continually arousing the interest of the most important Italian art historians and critics.
