Calligaris (1923 - ) was born in Manzano, Friuli, in 1923 as a small chair production workshop, and boasts a worldwide distribution of interior furnishings, including products for the living and sleeping areas. Antonio Calligaris first produced chairs in his small workshop; the first was Marocca with a wooden structure and straw seat. Manzano and the entire surrounding area quickly became a "chair neighborhood". In the 1960s, under the leadership of the third Calligaris generation, the company added a new automatic machine capable of upholstering almost one chair per minute with synthetic fibers instead of natural straw. From that moment the company grew rapidly and soon became a well-known brand that also established itself abroad. In the 1980s, the company added new materials to wood such as plastic, metals, fabrics, methacrylates, glass and ceramics. Today Calligaris has five factories and is present in over 100 countries around the world.
