Giuseppe Gabani was an Italian artist, born on 27 July 1846 in Senigallia and died in Rome in 1900. Formerly a Cavalry officer, he participated in the Third War of Independence. Subsequently, he trained in art under the guidance of Cesare Maccari in Rome, specializing in landscapes and Risorgimento battles. His works were exhibited at the promoters of Genoa and Turin, and he was present at the exhibitions of the Società Amatori e Cultori starting from 1884. One of his most important works, "Memory of 24 June 1866", which depicts an episode of the Battle of Custoza, is preserved at the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. This canvas was exhibited in 1890 at the exhibition of the Amatori e Cultori of Rome and subsequently purchased by the Municipality. Gabani died in Rome in 1900.
