Emanuele Giuffrida (1982 - ) was born in 1982 in Gela in the province of Caltanissetta and still lives and works in Palermo. After his technical studies he obtained a high school diploma at the D.Almeyda Art High School and subsequently attended the Academy of Fine Arts in the same city in 2007. In 2004 he began his exhibitions, both collective and private. In 2006 he held the exhibition 'Ore calm 10:00' at the La Grande Modica gallery. As his own educational path, he follows with interest the work of artists such as Velazquez, Manet and the French 19th century, and also Lopez Garcia, Hopper, Lorca di Corcia up to the most current currents such as the Leipzig school. His technical expertise is aimed at exploring a reality made up of bare and unadorned places such as abandoned billiard halls; public bathrooms; interiors of funeral homes; hospital wards. In this sort of geography of existential discomfort, which perhaps alludes to the transience of the human condition, only rare, solitary figures appear. He was awarded the VAF Foundation Award – 2019 – MART – Museum of Contemporary Art – Rovereto (MI) and participated in the 2020 ArteFiera Bologna edition for Lo Magno artecontemporanea.
