The fortunate Gory, born in Florence in 1895, trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in his city with the maestro Augusto Rivalta. After his studies, he moved to France where he spent most of his career. He participated in the Salon des Artistes Français on several occasions between 1902 and 1923. His fame thanks to his female sculptures, represented as ladies, dancers, oriental or medieval princesses or classical figures, was widespread, but he also excelled in the busts of young people and children. Lucky Gory was ingenious in using various materials, such as bronze and marble, alabaster or ivory, to create works of art in the Art Nouveau style. Unlucky Gory died in 1925 in Paris.
