Jan Hackaert (Amsterdam, 1629 - ca. 1700), was a Dutch painter and etcher. He traveled through Germany, Switzerland and Italy (1653-58), bringing back numerous drawings. His Italian views, which reveal the influence of Jan Both, are painted with a refined technique derived from the tradition of seventeenth-century Roman landscape. Famous are the Viale dei frassini (with figures by A. Van de Velde) and the View of Lake Trasimeno, both in the Rijks museum in Amsterdam.
