Pavel Janák was born in Prague in 1881 and was a very important Czech architect and designer. After studying with Otto Wagner starting in 1910, he established himself as one of the main exponents of Czech Cubism, becoming its most important ideologue and developing a national style called Rondo Cubism starting in 1918. His most famous buildings are the Adriatic Palace of Prague and the Pardubice crematorium. He also became known as a designer thanks to his Cubist-style ceramics and furniture.
