Robert Kemm, born in Salisbury in 1837 and died in London in 1895, was an English painter of romantic current. During 1861, he undertook a trip to Spain, with particular interest in Andalusia, looking for inspiration in landscapes and typical scenes, such as "The Baptism", in which majas and bullfighters were represented outside the church. He possessed considerable skill in the representation of figures such as bullfighters, brigands, beggars, guitarists and other characters from popular culture. Many of his works reflect the atmosphere of the city of Seville. Robert Kemm died in London in 1895.
