Lamberto Lamberti Biography
Lamberto Lamberti (Brescia, 1925-2003) was a painter from Brescia. Still very young, he was a student of Angelo Landi and Emilio Pasini. He later graduated from the Moretto School in Brescia. In the city he is still remembered today as one of Pasini's most promising students and some of his participations in group exhibitions such as the Brescia landscape award in 1954, before his arrival in Milan, are also not forgotten. In 1955 and 1956 he participated in the Viggiù Prize; he deserves a gold medal as promoter of the «Pro Juventute» exhibition set up in 1968 in the royal palace in Milan and where he exhibited Mutilatini. Among the personal exhibitions held, those in the Galleries are particularly noteworthy: «Vittoria» (Brescia, 1942); «Vanni» (Bergamo, 1950); «Bolzani» (Milan, 1952, 1954); «Gussoni» (Milan, 1957, 59-1965, 67); «Accademia» (Milan, 1959, 1969); «Il Vertice» (Milan, 1969); «Brescia art center» (Brescia, 1969). Author of landscapes, figures and portraits, he works in the figurative tradition and the «vision of old and humble houses under skies of a dense and veiled blue, with a few bare trees around them» is prevalent. This theme is reflected in numerous paintings appreciated by the public and by critics. The few portraits seen have warm tones, played on browns, the physiognomic rendering accurate: this is sometimes to the detriment of the naturalness of the subject which appears static. Numerous of his works are scattered in homes in Brescia, although Lamberti now rarely exhibits in his hometown.
