Alessandro Lenarda Biography
Alessandro Lenarda was born in Venice in 1939. After classical and musical high school studies, he graduated in architecture at the faculty of Venice. His teachers were Carlo Scarpa, Bruno Zevi, Giancarlo De Carlo, Ignazio Gardella, Franco Albini and Giuseppe Samonà. He began his career in 1962, dedicating himself mainly to interior architecture and design, with particular attention to glass processing technologies. Since 1964 his works have been exhibited in the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) of the Venice International Art Biennale. Some of his works are part of the artistic heritage of the museums of Venice, Altare, Monaco, London, New York, Piran, Holon-Telaviv and of the "Farnesina Design Collection" installed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 1964, 1966, 1970 and 1972 he exhibited his works at the Venice International Art Biennale. On the occasion of the Centenary Edition of the Biennale, he participated as a special guest in the “Murano Glass Biennial” exhibition. He obtained 3 awards, one of honor in the “Compasso d'Oro” competition. In 2001 some students of the Faculty of Letters and History of the La Sapienza University of Rome studied some of his works. Since 1976 he has been an ordinary member of the Accademia Tiberina in Rome. Some of his works are part of the historical collection of the "Compasso d'Oro" and have been recognized as "exceptional artistic and historical interest" and included by Ministerial Decree in the "Cultural Heritage of the Nation".
