Tyra Lundgren Biography

Tyra Carolina Lundgren, born January 9, 1897 in Stockholm and died in the same city on November 20, 1979, was a Swedish painter, ceramist, glass and textile designer and writer. Lundgren is known for being one of the most versatile artists and modernists of her time and was a pioneer in the Swedish Grace style. He studied decorative art and craftsmanship at the Högre konstindustriella skolan for four years. During a stay in Paris in 1920, he painted portraits, landscapes and interiors in the Cubist style. He also carried out an important activity in the field of glass design, working as a designer of glassware at Moser in Karlsbad in 1922. In 1936, during the Milan Triennale, he met the famous glassmaker Paolo Venini, with whom he established a collaboration that lasted until the 1950s. She was the first woman to design glass objects for Venini. Lundgren was also a textile designer for several companies. He has received numerous awards for his artistic career, including the Royal Swedish Medal "Litteris et Artibus" and a gold medal from the Milan Triennale. She passed away in 1979 in Stockholm.
