Alessandro Lupo Biography
Alessandro Lupo was born in Turin on 1 July 1876. After completing his compulsory studies, he dedicated himself to classical studies, before enrolling in the Faculty of Law and graduating in 1901. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong interest in drawing, and he decided to train under the guidance of Vittorio Cavalleri.
In 1901, he made his debut at the Società Promotrice delle Belle Arti of Turin, presenting three studies conducted from life. From that moment, he constantly participated in the main national exhibitions and exhibitions.
His art established itself when Lupo focused on the representation of animals and markets, these becoming his main subjects. After the first productions of outdoor landscapes, he began to diversify his subjects, later specializing as an animal rights activist and author of market scenes starting from the 1920s. In 1914, for the first time, he presented his works at the Salon des Artistes Lyonnaise, then participating in other exhibitions and solo exhibitions over the years. Lupo died in his home studio in Valpiana on 23 June 1953.
