Armando Marrocco was born in 1939 in Galatina (Italy). After having attended the State Institute of Art and taught sculpture, in 1962 he moved to Milan where he entered the artistic environment by collaborating with architects and urban planners. After his initial informal interests, his first research took place in the field of programmed and kinetic art. In 1968 he created the sculptural installation for the Ailè Selassie Foundation Building in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). In 1969 he joined the Art Terminal group with which he participated in some important artistic events. In 1970 Pierre Restany invited him to participate in the events for the 10th anniversary of the birth of Nouveau Realisme. In 2002 he received the Renoir prize and was appointed honorary academic of the Pontifical Distinguished Academy of Fine Arts of the Virtuosi at the Pantheon. In 2006 he created the sacred furnishings of the church of S. Giovanni Battista in Lecce. In the 90s and 2000s his participations in the secular sphere did not suffer interruptions as numerous exhibitions and events attest.
