Domenico Matteucci was born in Faenza in 1914. Sculptor and ceramist, he studied at the Liceo Artistico in Faenza and, after completing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, a pupil of Giovanni Romagnoli, he attended the ceramic workshop of Emilio Casadio, in via Maioliche in Faenza, which soon became a meeting place for young artists. Domenico Matteucci was born in Faenza in 1914. Sculptor and ceramist, he studied at the Liceo Artistico in Faenza and, after completing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, a pupil of Giovanni Romagnoli, he attended the ceramic workshop of Emilio Casadio, in via Maioliche in Faenza, which soon became a meeting place for young artists. In the second half of the 1930s he collaborated as a sculptor with Mario Morelli's ceramic studio in Faenza, creating some works decorated in vigorous colors on thick crystalline backgrounds, sometimes enriched by the application of metallic lustres, and was subsequently active in the "Casadio" laboratories. . In the early 1940s he moved to Milan where he collaborated with Giuseppe Angelo's ceramic studio in Sesto San Giovanni. As soon as the Second World War ended, he opened a brickyard where he invited Mario Morelli and Pietro Melandri to collaborate. The ceramist Wanda Berasi, known as Muky, has worked in his laboratory since the mid-1950s. Domenico Matteucci died in his hometown in 1991.
