Vincenzo Migliaro Biography

Migliaro Vincenzo (Naples, 8 October 1858 – Naples, 16 March 1938). After having learned the art of carving at the courses of the Società Centrale Operaia Napoletana and having attended the studio of Stanislao Lista, he enrolled in 1875 at the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples, a student of Domenico Morelli among others. In 1877 he made a short trip to Paris where he stopped to study the works exhibited at the Louvre Museum. However, Naples with its lively popular life is the artist's main source of inspiration: the works with which he participates in national exhibitions (Turin, 1880, 1884 and 1898) and international ones (among all we mention Barcelona where in 1911 he obtained the medal 'silver) establish his reputation as a careful investigator of Neapolitan reality. In the following decade he was called with other painters including Vincenzo Irolli to carry out the decoration of the Caffè Gambrinus. He participated in the international art exhibitions in Venice from 1901 to 1928 and in 1927 the Pesaro Gallery in Milan dedicated an exhibition to him, placing his works alongside those of Vincenzo Caprile and Vincenzo Gemito, both Neapolitans.
