Giuseppe Milani Biography

Giuseppe Milani (Battaglia Terme, 30 May 1893 – Rovigo, 18 August 1958) was an Italian sculptor and plastic decorator. He studied at the "Pietro Selvatico" art institute in Padua and obtained his academic diploma in the sculpture course in Venice. After teaching in Monselice, Bassano and Treviso, he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to sculpture and plastic decoration, creating works for various centers in Lower Padua. He executed the War Memorial of Pontecchio Polesine (1925) and the concrete decorations for the Post Office Building in Rovigo (1929). In 1934 he moved permanently with his family to Rovigo, creating the allegorical reliefs for the exterior of his house, outside Porta Po. He designed the main altar in the church of S. Giovanni Battista in Badia Polesine (1934) and a portrait by the priest Agostino Partesani preserved in the art gallery of the Accademia dei Concordi. After the Second World War he was mainly involved in the creation of works for the church of San Lorenzo da Brindisi and for the Sabbioni Cemetery. His last work was the bronze statue in honor of the patriot Ciceruacchio (1956) for Porto Tolle.
