(Rome, 1881 - Turin, 1961) Born into a family of actors, his father began studying classical literature. At a young age (1897) he began working in the studios of the Livorno painters Vittorio Corcos and then Gaetano Esposito Napoli. He made his debut in 1898 at the annual exhibition of the Association of Fine Arts in Florence, followed by a brief scholarship in Paris in 1899. The Academy of Fine Arts in Milan finally directed his production towards a landscape painting with the imprint of pointillism. After a short period in the Engadine, he returned to Milan and settled permanently in Turin. He participated in major Italian and European exhibitions and an entire room was dedicated to him at the 1912 Venice International Art Exhibition. The portraits of the 1910s were the artist's mature work and their subjects were more simplified, mainly landscapes.
