Theodorus Netscher (1661 - 1728), was an 18th century painter originally from the north of the Netherlands.
According to Johan van Gool, he was taught to paint by his father and, although he was born in Bordeaux, he was mainly trained in The Hague and became known as "Fransche Netscher" not for the place of birth but for his later works in Paris, where he lived from 1680 to 1699.
He worked in The Hague, made trips to Paris and England and finally moved to Hulst, where he died. He collaborated with Roger de Piles, both in The Hague and Paris and is known for his portraits and interior murals.
