Newson Marc (Sydney, 1963) Marc Newson studied jewelery and sculpture at the Sydney College of the Arts and while still young he began to carry out his first experiments in interior design. In 1984 he won a grant from the Australian Crafts Council and prepared an exhibition at the Roslyn Oxley Gallery in Sydney. Later the Japanese entrepreneur Teruo Kurosaki proposed that he produce his designs and move to Tokyo. In 1991 he opened a studio in Paris, where he received commissions from important European companies, such as Flos, Cappellini and Moroso. Newson also devoted himself to the design and production of clocks and restaurants, such as the Coast in London and the Mash & Air in Manchester. In 1997 he moved to London, where he opened the Marc Newson Ltd studio to carry out more ambitious industrial projects. Newson has designed glass objects for Iittala, kitchen and bathroom accessories for Alessi, and the interior of the Falcon 900B private jet. Furthermore, he won numerous awards, participated in several exhibitions and the artist's projects are part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Design Museum in London, the Musèe des Arts Dècoratifs in Paris and the Vitra Design Museum.
