Luciano Ori Biography

Ori Luciano (Florence, 1928-2007) Luciano Ori attended the Academy of Fine Arts, starting to exhibit his works in numerous venues in Florence. In the 1960s he began to use materials taken from magazines, newspapers and musical scores, bringing them together in collages and became part of Gruppo 70, participating in the group's exhibitions and performances. In that period he created the "Visual Theatre" tables, also appreciated by Marshall McLuhan. He also collaborated with the magazine "Tèchne" with the publication of a series of volumes, which testify to Ori's areas of experimentation. In 1973 he became one of the founders of the International Group of Visual Poetry from which he left the following year to dedicate himself completely to experiments that combined music with logo-iconic devices. In the 70s and 80s the artist participated in numerous exhibitions, which proposed a reflection on visual poetry and in 1979 he was commissioned by the Municipality of Florence to organize the first international visual poetry exhibition.
