Willem Ormea was a Dutch painter born in Utrecht in 1611, known for his skill in creating still lifes with fish. His passion for art was passed on to him by his father Marcus, also a painter. Most of Ormea's works represent animals, seascapes and still lifes with fish, often set in ports. Together with his father, he was one of the first artists to introduce the fish still life genre to Utrecht, helping to create a community of specialists in this field in the city. Willem Ormea died on 4 July 1673, in Utrecht.
