Guido Paolo Pajetta Biography

Pajetta Guido Paolo (Monza, 1898 - Milan, 1987) Guido Paolo Pajetta attended the Brera Academy, where he had the opportunity to meet Atanasio Soldati and Gino Ghiringhelli, who gave birth to the first abstract art. His style developed around a refined lightness and subtle irony. In 1928 he participated in the Venice Biennale and met Lucio Fontana, he also came into contact with the Milanese gallerist Massimo Cassani, who organized a permanent exhibition for him in his own Galleria Del Lauro. The artist was influenced by Sironi and the climate of the twentieth century, which was followed by a surreal phase and an interest in the French Fauves. Towards the end of the 40s he approached the influences of Picasso, post-cubism and expressionism, always keeping in mind a certain note of melancholy and a painful interiority in his works. In 1988 a retrospective was organized for him at the Permanente in Milan and in 2008 an important exhibition was dedicated to him at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana.
