Piazzetta Giovanni Battista (Venice, 1682-1754) Giovanni Battista Piazzetta was a sculptor and wood carver. He made a trip to Bologna, where he became acquainted with the works of Giuseppe Maria Crespi, joining his workshop in 1703. He was one of the greatest exponents of chiaroscuro painting, profoundly influencing 18th century Venetian painting. He also dedicated himself to drawing and book illustration, becoming one of the greatest illustrators of the century. Among his most important works are: "St. James led to martyrdom", "The Glory of St. Dominic", "The Assumption", "Vincenzo Ferrer and Giacinto".
