Riccardo Ripamonti, born in Milan on 1 October 1849, trained at the Brera Figure School under the teaching of Pietro Magni. In his artistic career, Ripamonti initially stood out for his non-academic style and characterized by a simple and casual naturalism, pushed to almost caricatural tones. He has created numerous sculptures of civil commitment, but also minor works characterized by the taste of genre sketches. Among his most important works are the monument to Carlo Borella at the Monumental cemetery in Milan, the statue of Tubalcain for the cathedral of Milan and the monument to General Giuseppe Missori. Ripamonti died in Milan in 1930.
