Albert Ritzberger, born May 20, 1853 in Pfaffstätt, was a renowned Austrian draftsman and painter. Belonging to a family of teachers, he himself was a teacher until 1879 in Lohnsburg am Kobernausserwald and Henhart. He presented his first drawings in an art shop in Linz and, thanks to his plaster portraits, was then able to study at the Vienna School of Applied Arts under Ferdinand Laufberger in 1876-77. Subsequently, he had the opportunity to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Heinrich von Angeli. From 1887 to 1890 he ran his art studio in Munich and in the Austrian city of Salzburg from 1893. During 1893 he undertook trips to Italy and Holland, and then stayed in Vienna and Salzburg. After 1890 and until his death, Ritzberger lived and worked part of the time in Linz and part of the time in Aschach an der Donau, in studios located on family property. A member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus since 1887, Ritzberger died on 8 November 1915 in Linz. His grave is now located in the Urfahr Urn Grove in Linz.
