Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec Biography
Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, born respectively in 1971 and 1976 in Quimper, France, completed their studies at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École des Beaux-Arts in Cergy-Pontoise. Immediately after completing his studies, Ronan set out as an independent designer with the help of his brother, who was still a student at the time. Since 1999, the two brothers have collaborated in their associated studio located in Paris. Their production ranges from the design of small utility objects to far-reaching architectural projects. In addition to creating furniture for home interiors and offices, vases, porcelain tableware, jewelery and home accessories, the Bouroullecs are mainly dedicated to the design and organization of interior spaces. One of their most innovative projects, Algue (2004), was developed within this context. The Bouroullec brothers' collaboration with Vitra began with the creation of the Joyn office furniture system, developed between 2000 and 2002, and continues to grow and intensify over time. Together with Jasper Morrison, Hella Jongerius and Antonio Citterio, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have contributed significantly to the continued expansion of the Vitra Home Collection.
