Mozart Rottmann was a Hungarian painter specializing in genre painting. Born in Hungary in 1874, he studied art in Budapest, Vienna and Munich. He became famous for his painting of biblical subjects and for genre painting in the spirit of the school of master Gyula Benczur (1844-1920), professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Since 1901 his works have been exhibited in Budapest at the Art Gallery and the National Exhibition. His works are currently part of the permanent collection of museums in Budapest and Vienna, as well as the Jewish Museum in New York and the Israel Museum. Rottmann passed away around 1950.
