Salmistraro Biography
Elena Salmistraro (1983 - ) graduated in Industrial Design from the Polytechnic of Milan in 2008; the following year he founded his own professional studio in which he dedicated himself to product design and architectural design. Creator of a highly recognizable stylistic trait, she is interested in the development of a research work that straddles illustration, design and visual arts, through which she intends to codify an expressive language characterized by a strong extroversion and eager to stimulate emotion . His projects have been selected to participate in important events; among these are the traveling exhibition The New Italian Design – with stops in Milan, San Francisco, Santiago de Chile, Cape Town – the collective The New Aesthetic Design – at the 2013 Shanghai Biennale – and the Gwangju Biennale – in South Korea , in 2015. In 2016, on the occasion of the XXI International Exhibition of the Triennale Di Milano, entitled Design After Design, she participated in the W. Women in Italian Design Exhibition, ninth edition of the Triennale Design Museum. In the two-year period 2017-2018 she was appointed Ambassador of Italian Design in the World, on the occasion of the world day dedicated to Italian design, Italian Design Day, an initiative promoted by the Triennale di Milano in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities . In 2017 he won the Salone del Mobile Milano Award as "Best debuting designer". He collaborates as a designer and artist for various companies, including Apple, Disney, Vitra, Lavazza, Alessi, Bosa, De Castelli, Cc-Tapis; his work, over the years, has been exhibited in numerous prestigious galleries, including Dilmos, Rossana Orlandi, Camp Design Gallery, Subalterno1 and Secondome.
