Marcello Scuffi (Tizzana 1948) Lives and works between Quarrata and Marina di Pietrasanta, in Versilia. Tuscan author, expression of modern neo-Italianism, as Vittorio Sgarbi defined him, recalling primitivist languages ​​of our rappel à l'ordre, such as Carrà, Rosai, Morandi, Casorati, in whose works the subject moves from landscapes to still lifes. However, Scuffi distances himself from these artists by abandoning exasperations and stripping art of useless frills. Self-taught, he has been painting since 1970; in his canvases, as well as in his frescoes and watercolours, we paradoxically recognize a hand that has remained unchanged over time, even though the works of his early years are brighter and clearer. At the beginning of the seventies, painting finally became his profession, managing to make a living from it without difficulty. His has always been a timeless painting, heir to the highest expressions of the twentieth century. Since 1970 he has been present in various group exhibitions and since 1972 he has had more than thirty solo exhibitions. In 1977 and 1981 he stayed in Brussels and painted there for a long time. In addition to Italy, his work is known in France, Belgium and Switzerland.
